Course Description

The Desert Miracle was the name given to Emirates Golf Club when it became the first all-grass championship golf course in the Gulf region, way back in 1988. And so it remains to this day, even though many have followed in its footsteps. His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's brainchild still inspires awe amongst all who play on the Emirates Golf Clubs verdant green golf courses, as well as those who simply visit its unique and ageless club house. The Emirates Golf Club sports two championship golf courses, The Majlis and the Wadi and extensive recreational facilities and fine dining - enough to satisfy the most discerning of visitors.

Emirates Golf Club's Majlis Course, is the original home of the Dubai Desert Classic and the flagship course of Emirates Golf Club, The Majlis Championship course is a challenging par 72, 7211-yard course. Sculptured around the original tall desert dunes in 1987, The Majlis was the first grass course in the Middle East and takes its name from the Arabic for 'meeting place'. Indeed, one of the most prominent features on the course is the Majlis building itself, positioned between the 8th and 9th holes.

The 8th hole, a par 4 dogleg is The Majlis' most unusual hole. Stroke index 3 and playing a full 434 yards, it has the unusual distinction of playing up-hill and requires a long, well directed drive to leave a reasonable second shot to its well protected green.

Emirates Golf Club's second Championship golf course, the Wadi Course was opened in 1996 and was christened 'The Wadi', taken from the Arabic for 'valley'. A landscaped wadi between the 7th and 8th holes highlights the traditional name given to the course. The Wadi continues in the same vein as The Majlis with its undulating fairways and landscape.

Given the unenviable task of competing with The Majlis, The Wadi performs admirably and more than acquits itself. Another challenging layout, The Wadi tempts the average golfer with its space and large greens, which are cleverly protected by fourteen lakes and numerous bunkers. The Wadi is very popular locally and eagerly lures players to the challenge of its 7114-yards.
