Course Description
Prestwick Golf Club is situated half an hour south west of Glasgow on the famous golfing Ayrshire coast. A stretch of land unequalled anywhere in the world for prime golfing terrain. Prestwick shares its boundaries with Royal Troon and is just 20 minutes from Turnberry, with Open final qualifying courses such as Kilmarnock Barassie, Glasgow Gailes, Western Gailes and Irvine Bogside within just 5 minutes drive.
Like many courses in Scotland, the 6544 yard, par 71 course unwinds between a railway track and the sea. It has been lengthened since the days when there were only twelve holes but this has added to the course's variety if not its unity. The bunkers here are particularly tough, especially the famous Cardinal, which cuts the third hole in two. Prestwick thrives on hospitality (on weekdays) and memories of the past that you can't and won't miss in the club house.
Pull trolleys and clubs may be hired from the pro shop and caddies can be arranged. Electric carts are not permitted due to the terrain of the course.
Dining: during the summer months - Full lunch available in Dining Room (gentlemen only) Tuesday - Friday 12.30 - 2.30pm. Jacket and tie mandatory. Snack lunch available in Cardinal Room (ladies and gentlemen) Sunday - Friday from 10.00am - 3.45pm. Golf attire may be worn.
During the winter months the dining room is closed and the Cardinal Room is open from Tuesday to Friday and Sunday from 10.00am - 2.30pm. The cost of lunch is not included in the green fee.
